Harrods, the World’s most famous department store, is located on the Brompton Road in Knightsbridge, London, though this is not the only location from where Harrods merchandise can be purchased; Harrods has its smaller ‘signature’ shops at Heathrow and Gatwick airport as well as at international airports such as Vienna, Copenhagen, Lisbon and Kuala Lumpur.
Harrods employs more than 5,000 staff representing more than 50 different nationalities. Up to 500 extra staff are recruited at Sale times and for the Christmas period.
Harrods of Knightsbridge is not like any other department store in the UK. It began life as a small grocers shop in 1849 and in its 150 year plus history has become a prime Knightsbridge retailer. It certainly lives up to its motto:
“Everything for everybody everywhere”
Harrods also offers additional services one if which is the delivery of goods. The Distribution & Administration Centre, Osterley has been a customer of Alltruck plc since 1995. In June 2001 we supplied six additional contract hire vehicles to their existing fleet and in November 2001 Alltruck Bodyshop carried out a complete refurbishment program on the whole fleet of vehicles including horse drawn carriages!
