Donation made to: Leicestershire Parents Group for Diabetes UK
Well done to Alex who has been awarded Employee of the Month for October.
Alex received this month’s award as a result of his continued use of good initiative and confidence in his own abilities in going the extra mile for our customers. Well done Alex!
As winner, Alex receives £210 to donate to worthy cause of his choice and he has made his donation to the Leicestershire Parents Group of Diabetes UK and is shown presenting the cheque to Tanya Grundy – one of the charity’s volunteers.
The Leicestershire Parent’s Voluntary Group is run by and is for parents and carers of children with diabetes; to learn more about diabetes management, sharing information, experiences and mutual support. Type 1 diabetes develops when the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the cells that produce insulin. As a result the body is unable to produce insulin and this leads to increased blood glucose levels, which in turn can cause serious damage to all organ systems in the body.
The group organise fundraising events, lectures and education evenings, trips, children’s parties and social events throughout the year including an annual residential holiday in August – Camp Charnwood. The camp is an annual educational holiday held in Quorn, where diabetic kids throughout Leicestershire can learn more about living with diabetes, doing their own injections and learning about foods and exercise within their diets.
