Alltruck Review of Truckfest 2011
Alltruck weren’t exhibiting at TruckFest Original in Newark this year, so we took the opportunity to go along and join in the fun as visitors. This blog is a recap and review of some of the main highlights we saw while we were there.
Maybe an obvious statement, but the first thing that strikes you about TruckFest is the massive amount of trucks! Old, new, big and even bigger – the vehicles cover every corner of the Newark and Notts County Showground. Armed with a camera, we went a little bit snap happy while we were there, capturing the vehicles, crowds and some impressive livery as we toured around TruckFest and you can see our photos here.
Bursting at the seams with trucks, the Notts Showground is the perfect venue – it’s a manageable size and easy to navigate so there’s no need to miss anything as you make your way around.
Once we were happy we’d taken in the best of what the truck displays had to offer it was time to refuel with a burger before heading to the Main Arena where the headline entertainment was in action. The entertainment was perfectly fitting of an event dedicated to trucks – big and loud! Engines roared and vehicles soared during spectacles which included stunt bikers, monster trucks and…erm, Fireman Sam.
The main event however was most definitely Lisa Kelly and Alex Debogorski – two of the stars of television’s Ice Road Truckers. If transport is the new rock ‘n’ roll (see our previous blog post on why we think it is here) then these guys are trucking’s equivalent of Madonna and Elvis! Wherever Lisa and Alex went, the crowds were sure to follow in the hunt for a picture or an autograph.
And not ones to be left out we grabbed the chance to present Lisa and Alex with one of our (soon-to-be) world famous Alltruck plc pink high vis vests!
All good things must come to an end though and as the evening approached and the dust began to settle – that marked the end of our day at TruckFest 2011 and it was time to make our way home with a smile on our face and the roar of monster trucks still ringing in our ears.
